Fonio Network
Fonio Network outlines were initiated by several collaborations developed during previous fonio projects (CFC Fonio, INCO-Fonio ) and since the concept of ARCAD project (Agropolis Fondation)
To gather the initiatives and to strengthen the network, a first meeting was organized in Niamey, Niger, December 2010 by Cirad, IRD, University Abdou Moumouni of Niamey, IRAG (Guinea) and ARCAD project
The meeting was attended by a score of researchers and operators from various West African countries (Guinea, Mali, Senegal, Mali, Benin, Niger) and France, representative of research institutes but also of ONG or private companies. The interdisciplinary approach was favoured by integrating genetic resources, socio-economic aspects and technological improvements as well.
